Hair care

Hair Extensions are an accessory and not your natural hair. It is an ‘add on’, therefore you will need to take special care of your hair extensions to ensure they stay looking healthy and intact. Like your natural hair, extensions can be easily damaged with too much heat or pulling. Treat your extensions with care at all times.

Be aware that throughout the next 6 - 8 weeks you may have a few strands of hair extensions fall out. This is normal and we suggest that you keep these extensions in a safe place and bring them in with you when you have your lifting, we can replace them for you at this time.

To help you get the most out of your gorgeous new hair extensions we ask that you carefully read the following care instructions. These instructions will help you to make your extensions healthier and shinier and last longer:

Do not shampoo you hair for 48 hours after the extensions are completed or after maintenance sessions. Thereafter it is best if you shampoo only three times a week.

Shampoo hair in a gentle manner follow the direction of the hair flow from top to bottom. Avoid washing the hair upside down in the sink. When shampooing or conditioning your hair, do not scrub hair.

Cool water is recommended when shampooing to reduce or prevent matting and excessive tangling.

Remember to NEVER put conditioner on your roots as this will weaken the bonds, and could cause shedding.

Since human hair extensions are usually processed to achieve uniform colour and texture, use only the highest quality, gentle hair care products to encourage long life for your extensions. We strongly recommend that you use X Ten Shampoo & Conditioner, as these will prolong the life of your hair extensions. When you have applied the mask to your extensions leave this on for 5mins, at this time and comb through extensions with a small comb while in the shower, while mask is on the hair ends. Remember the extensions do not receive your natural scalp oils and so they need to have moisture added with every wash.

We strongly recommend that you come in for a Hair Extension Ritual Treatment every six weeks, this will ensure a long life for your extensions.

Avoid using dandruff shampoos or conditioners containing alchohol or silicon based products, as they can damage the bonds. Some oily products can also damage the bonds.

Dry hair by wrapping in a towel or air dry. Never scrub hair with a towel. If using blow drier use the warm setting and take care not to use forceful flow. Once dry, use loop extensions brush to finish brushing.

Never go to bed with wet hair. Always make sure your hair is dry and tied back in a loose pony tail or plait before going to sleep. It is recommend to sleep on a silk pillow case to keep hair from tangling while sleeping.

When using hot appliances such as blow driers and hair straighteners, keep away from the bonded areas of the extensions to prevent damaging the keratin bonds.

Use a Loop Extension Brush or wide tooth comb to remove knots and tangles from your hair. Start at the ends and gently work your way up to the scalp while holding the top part to keep it from shedding or stretching. Do this before you wash your hair, swim or sleep. Remember ‘never pull on your extensions’.

Run your fingers through hair daily to make sure bonds stay separated.

Try to avoid salt water as chloride in sea water and swimming pools may cause the bonds to weaken and break down. After swimming immediately rinse the hair in fresh water, use mask leave for 5mins and comb through wet hair, then proceed to dry

As your hair grows, your hair extensions will move away from your scalp, therefore you will have to readjust your extensions every 2-3mths.

Try to avoid tanning beds and saunas as the excess steam and sweat can affect the hair bonds. We recommend spray tanning only.
